I love true historical stories that sound too awesome to be real. This book was full of them. It's full of stories to broaden your D-Day lessons.
Highlights include Juan Pujol Garcia, who single-handedly tricked Germany into believing he was building a spy network of British Nazi sympathizers from within. In reality, he was sitting in Lisbon making it all up. He then offered his fictitious spy network to Britain as a way to feed Germany misinformation. He was crucial in fooling the Germans into believing that the attack would not land in Normandy, but in Calais.
Also included are a con-artist double agent who was likely stealing from both sides, and yet maintained the D-Day secret despite torture and execution, and a wealthy socialite who nearly exposed the entire plot because the British (likely) killed her dog.
